If I travelled to Spain, am I entitled to duty-free?
Im travelling to Spain out of Heathrow and I was wondering whether I am allowed a buy a laptop duty-free from Heathrow? If that's not allowed, can I buy it from there duty-free?

Answer 1 :
yes spain is an eu country
Answer 2 :
No, your final destination has to be outside of the EU in order to shop duty free. Norway and Switzerland have nice dutyfree shops.

i'll be travelling to spain by plane soon, and will take laptop. what security checks will i need to go thru?
I've heard that when you go to america they aren't really checking what you have on your laptop, just what your reaction will be. And if you seem nervous they'll take the laptop or hold you for ages etc. And if i'm in that situation, even if my laptop was completely blank, I know i'll be nervous and look shifty. So just wondering what its like when flying to Spain - do they just scan it to make sure its not a bomb and thats it? PS, before you all give me dirty looks, there's no child porn on my laptop. <_<

Answer 1 :
The security checks for flying to Spain will be just like the security checks for flying in the US. Don't worry about it. No one is going to check your laptop content (unless you fly EL AL to Israel where they have increased security procedures, for good reason).
Answer 2 :
they will make you take your laptop out of the bag at the airport and put it throw like other carry on bags. there should be nothing else, as long as it is a aptop you have nothing to worry about

I think the best way is to completely re-install OS with you native language. Sure, there are some languge pack's that convert os, but usually they are working not stable

I will be traveling to Spain with my Hair Straightener and Laptop. What will I need?? Converter or Adapter

I will be traveling to Spain with my Hair Straightener and Laptop. What will I need?? Converter or Adapter?
I am from the United States and will be traveling to Madrid, Spain for a couple of weeks. I plan on taking my Hair Straightener and my Laptop. With the info on my products stated before, I was wondering what I will need... a converter, an adapter or what?? Is there a certain one that works better than others? And where would you recommend buying it? Please help I don't want to fry anything. My HP Laptop Charger has 3 prongs and shows: Wide Range Input Input: 100-240V ~ 1.7A (1,7A) 50-60Hz Output: 18.5V (18,5V) --- 3.5A (3,5A) 65W My Hair Straightener has 2 prongs. I no longer have the box it can in and I don't know if this means anything but the wire shows: CSA Non-Integral SPT-1 300V 105°C FT2 2/18AWG

If you go to any specialty place that sells luggage and they usually have converters there. You already have adapter's for you appliances (the thing you use to plug into the wall). A converter just takes the two prong device we use in the states and allows you to plug into an outlet where ever you'll be staying in Madrid. If all else fails, they'll probably sell them in the airport as well...but I wouldn't count on it. I haven't been to Spain in a long time, so I'm not sure of the airport in Madrid anymore. You can also check out best buy or anywhere they'd sell electronics/traveling gear. Good luck and enjoy your trip :) Edit: Why the thumbs down? Whatever...
Answer 2 :
You will ALWAYS need a SPANISH plug adapter...it's got two ROUND prongs, Get one that has three holes on the female side for your computer...according to your information, you won't need a voltage converter for it. You can buy a dual voltage hair appliance. I recommend it...it's a good thing to have...they are much simpler to use. If you don't want to, you'll probably spend as much for the converter to use it. Go to any store that sells luggage, and ask them for help. You can bring along the information you posted, but I can tell you, the computer is dual voltage, and the hair straightener is probably not. BTW, plug adapters are readily available in Spain at hardware stores, for about 3€. There's a hardware store or two on just about any block in Madrid. Check the BODY of the hair straightener, and see if it doesn't have that 100 - 220 or 240 V symbol somewhere, or if it says "dual voltage" anywhere. Older appliances have a switch, but they are making them now that switch automatically.
Answer 3 :
you need an adapter plug (a plug with 2 round prongs) for your computer. that is what the Input: 100-240V means (it can be used in US- 110 V and Europe -220 V) If the cord on your iron doesn't also show that (,Input: 100-240V ) then you will need a CONVERTER AND an adapter plug for your iron, which is big and cumbersome and not worth it... go without the iron, or buy a cheap one here (20 euros) for the duration. Happy travels PS- you can buy the adapter plug in any 'Ferreteria' (hardware shop) in Spain, and they are cheap, only a couple of euros
