Internet Access in other countries

Internet Access in other countries?
I am traveling to Barcelona Spain and would like to know if I need to do anything special to with my laptop for internet access. I have windows xp sp2. Can I just plug it in a hotel and have it work like it does here?

Answer 1 :
Unless it's dual voltage, you'll need a voltage converter for your laptop. Using the hotel line will be expensive, but yes, you can plug it in. However, the hotel probably has a computer ("business center") that you can use, handy if you're only going to be checking email. There's lots of internet cafes in the city. It might be less of a hassle to use those, unless you need 24/7 access

Will I be able to charge my laptop an airplane

Will I be able to charge my laptop an airplane?
On "http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/United_Airlines/information.php" website it says that the power type is an "AC Power", I'm not really sure what that is. But does that mean if I purchase an AC Adapter for my computer I will be able to charge it on the airline? I am flying from America to Spain. Thank You

Answer 1 :
Yes that's what it means. You will be able to as long as the aircraft has some kind of power source, and, as long as you buy the AC adapter it will work

My laptop says I'm out of the United States but I'm not

My laptop says I'm out of the United States but I'm not...?
I went to Spain 2 months ago and took my laptop with me. I'm already back in the US and I wanted to watch my fave tv show episodes online but it says it doesn't offer the videos for people outside of the US. Why does it still think I'm in Spain? It's not just ABC family's site that says that, it also does that for yahoo videos, youtube videos, mtv videos and also clothing sites. How do I change it so it knows I'm in the US? Thanks. I checked it and it's the right time zone already, and I went to the control panel clock date region it's all set united states. But it still won't let me watch videos!

Answer 1 :
right click on the clock on your task bar. What time zone does it say you are in?
Answer 2 :
You have to go to the control panel and change the time zone. It still thinks its in Spain and thats why you cant play shows. Its just a setting and will take about one minute to fix.
Answer 3 :
Go to Start>Control Panel>Clock,Language and Region>Change the time zone.. then put it back to the united states easy to fix obviously automatically set to spain when you visit hope ive helped keiran.

Answer 1 :
Go to your local best buy or radio shack or even future shop. Tell them you need a European adapter and they will know EXACTLY what you need!
Answer 2 :
wal mart has a world power inverter. itl cover all of europe... enjoy... i went to italy and it was a blast... but wal mart has you covered
Answer 3 :
Switzerland has different shaped plugs from France/Spain/Italy (still two round pins, but the socket is a squashed hexagon instead of round). You can get all-in-one adapters which would be the best option. http://www.amazon.com/SunPak-TRAVEL-ADAPT-Universal-World-wide-Adapter/dp/B000JC5T82/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1215029701&sr=8-2 Check that the chargers for your laptop/phone/camera can handle 240V...if not you will fry your electronics unless you also bring a stepdown-voltage-converter with you....and even then I'd be dubious. Look on the charger for words like "Input 100-240V"...that would be OK
