My birthday is coming up on august 26, i am gonna be 15. i have narrowed down my choices to two option basically. I have just moved to spain , i have internet, and the works. Mainly my question is should i get an Apple itouch or an Xbox 360. Now i have an ipod nano first gen. and im fine with it. im not at a loss of space. I have a laptop, pretty fast. i am mainly a PC gamer but im running low on budget for having to keep upgrading my machine to play. Sense both x-box and PC are microsoft , wouldn't you have like mainly the same games? anyway if u tell me i would much appreciate it if you tell me why :) Thanks a lot. Alex :)

360 all the way. Sure the itouch has portable internet and you might want that if thats something you like, but the touch doesnt offer that much space and if you have enough on your nano stick with that. I am the owner of a 360 and i love it. The only thing you might want to consider is the cost of games and xbox live (which i highly recommend.)

Meh, it's relatively normal. Just think, there are worse friends to have then a fanboy. A lot of anime fans go through a period were they take it too far. Either he will grow out of it or he wont. Most do eventually mellow out. Hey and if he doesn't at least he has an interesting appreciation of another nations sub-culture. Just think of it like this. Some people are big fans of music or sports. He is just a fan of drawn characters. He may also have a bit of a fetish for certain taboo topics but it is not really that uncommon in hentai. As for what you can do. Have a talk with him. Explain why it is rude to practice made up martial arts moves on anyone let alone your freinds. Remind him that ninjas were mostly wiped out. Also tell him that you don't care for anime and you especially don't want to watch any pornographic movies or images with him. (if he didn't show you them then just stay off his computer) Try to just talk and do other things with him. If he is your friend he will respect your opinion. He may be using anime as a method of escape. Is he having trouble with his life right now. Maybe you could get him out more and meet people, women in particular. Or have him sign up for an actual martial arts class so he can gain focus and discipline. Of course after giving him a crash course on why many people may be turned off from him by his anime obsession. Oh, and a couple more things. Persuade him not to buy a sword. Absolutely no good can come out of owning one. It's not like he can even use it. It's just a waste of money. Remember he is your friend and we all have periods in our lives were we are not very self aware of our actions. I am an anime fan but I don't really tell people unless I know they are, too. I tried to keep these suggestions as unbiased as possible. I hope this helps.

If he's older than 15, he should be realizing that his hobby *generally* doesn't lead to a career. But it's very easy to become addicted to things, especially anime where you can find a very active online community. A lot of fans have been through that stage (including myself), and there's really not much you can do except wait it out. (The videos, though, are disgusting, and definitely not normal.)

If I use the proper adaptor, is it ok to charge my U.S. purchased laptop in Spain?
The ac adaptor that came with the laptop says from 100-240 volts. Is there anything else I need to change on the laptop for it to work?

Look carefully at the charger/adaptor. Most laptops are now able to operate at 110V to 240V 50Hz/60Hz. This will be printed on the adaptor. If not, a voltage converter will be neccessary. If you need one, check the wattage requirement on the adaptor and use a transformer step up, NOT an electronic one.

I just returned from Spain yesterday. I was able to use my US-purchased laptop there with the use of an international adaptor. All computers, laptops, gadgets, even Norton 360, one cannot have the option of buying an English version, of any Operating System. If they are part of the Schengen Agreement, they should be open to English Idioms. Goodness! even the theathers! all in Spanish! Everything is translated to Español, for heaven's sake!

Because the Operating System of any computer depends on what country it is BUILT FOR... and it has ALWAYS been that way... 25 years ago, I had the FRENCH and the SPANISH versions of DOS which I picked in those countries and the I would load them on computers of my friends in the U.S. as a practical joke on April 1st. It's a moot point, anyway, because ALL keyboards have the ASCII text characters BUILT INTO THEM... and you can access them by holding down the Alt key and typing in a 2 digit number on the NUMERIC KEYPAD... so you can't do it on a lap top, but you can type almost any language on a standard keyboard. Try holding down the alt key and key in 138 then release the alt key. You DO know that European Keyboards are PHYSICALLY different from AmeriKan keyboards, I assume. The European system is AVORAK and the AmeriKan system is QWERTY.

i want to know what you call the thing that lets you go on the internet anywhere even abroad on your laptop. i live in the uk i went to bt website and typed in wireless broadband but it just said wireless routers and thats not what i want please help! thanks

Then you can get online in the middle of nowhere, but you need a two way manportable sattelite reciever and it cost likes 5 bucks a minute. That's what reporters on CNN do when you see them with choppy video talking to the anchors. I'd just find hotel with free internet, or a starbucks.

I'm going on a trip to Spain next spring break. I plan on taking my digital camera and my Aunt's laptop--what should I get to convert the outlet? I've never been to Europe and I'm not sure what I need.

If you in the US you can find the converters at Wal-Mart and Target and its a set of several converters for all over the world. I got my set at Target and it was about $10 and they can be found where the luggage is sold. Good investment if you plan on traveling allot.

You will need an adapter so that the US style plug on your laptop charger will fit in the European style outlet. You can get those at Radio Shack or Best Buy. NOTE : Keep in mind that in Europe they use 220/240V AC as opposed to 110V AV in the US. So that is twice the amount of voltage. MOST (I stress MOST) laptops have what are called AutoVolt power supplies that can handle both 220 and 110V automatically. MAKE SURE YOU CHECK your power supply before you leave. The last thing you need is for the power supply to burn out and not be able to use the laptop when you are there. Same with your digital camera - IF you plan on using a battery charger that plugs into the wall outlet here in the US, do the same thing - CHECK !!! Enjoy Europe - its a beautiful continent :)

You can buy a universal converter. It has the plugs for each region. I got one for here at JFK after buying PSP's for my girls in the States. Cost about $13.

Study Abroad or... buy College stuff?
Ok so i have two options. I can study at Madrid, Spain for Summer Semester. The total cost is $3000. But only for a month. Or i can use that money to buy things i need like, a laptop, and save the rest as down payment for a car. What would you guys do? @Sara: It covers everything. Plane, room, 3meals a day, and tuition. And of course our personal expenses are another budget depending on how much money we bring.

What does the 3,000$ cover? If it's just the tuition, you're getting the shaft. Because the flight will be about 1,000$ and a room I'm guessing will be about 500$ a month. Your adviser should have testimonials for you or they should be able to provide the email addresses of people who've done the same program who can answer your questions to see if it's really worth it. If you're looking to learn Spanish, maybe instead go to Central or South America. It will be a lot cheaper and just as cool for things to do and places to travel. I studied abroad in Santiago, Chile for a full semester and my school's scholarships covered the tuition (which was cheaper than the local school's), so I had money leftover to travel and all that other good stuff.

I've got Spain playing on the TV, England playing on the laptop and they're just making me want to hurt myself. I have no idea why Glen Johnson is even in the squad, Crouch is useless tonight and Rooney is just... I don't even know :/ Loving Adam Johnson even more though. Gerrard is the one of the only ones who looks like he's really playing with heart and I haven't see Rio put a foot wrong yet. And at least Spain are up =] So, how is your team doing tonight? All those part-time supporters who quit the game early - the game really picked up half way through the second half. Can't blame England entirely - Montenegro deserve to be top of the group. Overall though I am disappointed that I missed a couple of hours work instead. England were lucky. Montenegro were very unlucky not to win. They had a a fine shot hit the crossbar.

Ok so im originally from America, but i came to Spain for vacation. I have international calling and wifi, but every time i try to access the appworld, it says, data service is not operational. so i tried downloading off my laptop, but i get to the payment part, and it says "Payment error" and then something about not having wifi. Plz help because i get really bored during the plane ride with nothing to do! and im leaving in a couple of days!!!!

plug adapter- technical electric question

I'm traveling to Spain from USA, and so I will need an adapter to connect my electronics especially my laptop. I want to buy an adapter online but before I do I want to know if the voltage difference from USA to Europe affects my electronics? Will it mess up my laptop or will the adapter adjust the voltage difference?

I am going crazy!! I want to use my Huwei 3G internet pen from Movistar in Spain, to provide me with both internet for laptop and PS3. I was recommended to buy a 3G Ready Wireless Router, which I've bought. It is made by sitecom. I have followed every instruction per manual and it does not connect properly. I can only get local connection, although it has full strength of wireless. Therefore, I cannot use the internet or surf the net or play PS3 online. I think it is because I don't have the correct Movistar details, such as username and password, but I spoke to them and they provided the details. After entering them on 192.168.0.1, it is meant to reboot in order to work, and then I am advised to go onto website www.sitecomrouter.com and it is meant to work....but mine remains on local connection only and I cannot do anything. I don't know what else to do...I am convinced the answer is very easy to work out but as I am not that hot on computers I don't know. The red light is staying on the router as well, which I don't think is a good sign. Please can someone advise me! Thank you.

Is the light on the huwei flashing or staying on. I have one and when it is connected the light is on (green:2g, blue:3g) but when its not connected it just flashes green. Maybe the router does not support your 3g modem? This would be a problem because the router needs the software to automatically connect the modem to the Internet. With my router it is possible to upgrade its software by logging on to the router and going into settings. Only problem is you have to download the update and upload it to the router, so you'd have to put the 3g modem into your computer and download the file first

I think it is because I don't have the correct Movistar details, such as username and password, but I spoke to them and they provided the details. After entering them on 192.168.0.1, it is meant to reboot in order to work, and then I am advised to go onto website www.sitecomrouter.com and it is meant to work....but mine remains on local connection only and I cannot do anything. I don't know what else to do...I am convinced the answer is very easy to work out but as I am not that hot on computers I don't know. The red light is staying on the router as well, which I don't think is a good sign. Please can someone advise me! Thank you.

Is the light on the huwei flashing or staying on. I have one and when it is connected the light is on (green:2g, blue:3g) but when its not connected it just flashes green. Maybe the router does not support your 3g modem? This would be a problem because the router needs the software to automatically connect the modem to the Internet. With my router it is possible to upgrade its software by logging on to the router and going into settings. Only problem is you have to download the update and upload it to the router, so you'd have to put the 3g modem into your computer and download the file first

What should I do on my holiday with my laptop
What should I do on my holiday with my laptop?
Hey there. I'm going on holiday in two days to Spain with my mum and brother. Now I know I'm going to do the usual things such as go to the beach and go out in the nights and stuff, but normally when we go there's like a 5 hour gap between the beach and going out in the evening where I am very bored. I take my laptop with me every year, but there is no internet where we stay so the laptop is pretty much useless. So does anyone have any idea what I can do with my laptop? Are there any programmes I could download for free to use while I'm away? Like to give me project or something that I could try and complete while I'm there. I'm taking a few PC games with me, but they get boring after a while. I'm looking for any interesting programmes I could download for free that will entertain me while I'm gone. Cheers :D

My laptop won't let me open my documents or pictures etc
My laptop won't let me open my documents or pictures etc...?
Okay, so I recently got a new laptop (about 7-8weeks ago) and it's been working fine, not a bother. But then I went to Spain about 3 weeks ago and it didn't fizzle or anything like that it just stopped letting go onto My Documents, My Pictures or any other of My files. It's quite bothersome as I can't upload pictures to Facebook etc... because of it. Should I restore it back to factory settings or is there a way I can fix it?

There are many different things that can go wrong with a pc, here are some things you can do. When you boot your pc go into the windows settings by pressing f2 or something similar, every computer is different, once you have done that press, "last good known configuration", this option can be very effective but it may not work, if it does not work buy a 4gb re-writable disk and type in windows 7 iso disk image, then burn windows 7 to the disk, then insert the disk again and go into the files on the disk and click on the setup application and it will re-install windows to factory settings. Other than restoring it you could go into the options again when you boot up and go onto the option "repair my computer", then go system restore. You can then reset your computer to an earlier point in time when it was working. If none of these works at all then there must be something wrong with your hard drive and you will need to either get it replaced you could could just buy a new computer. You could either take it back to the place you got it from and tell them what is wrong and they could fix the problem for you. Hope I helped

cashing a cheque at the bank
cashing a cheque at the bank?
I have recived a cheque from buyer and he was intrested in buying my laptop from gumtree. The buyer lives in spain and he sent me the cheque by post. He said to me that it will be better if I go to cash point and cash the cheque up because he wants to recive the laptop soon as posible. I have recived the cheque today and I didnt tell him that I got the cheque and I took the cheque to bank and the bank payed it in. The bank said it will take 7 days to cash the cheque up. I am worried that what if the cheque is fake ???/ I have not sent the laptop. Can anyone Help me out ? Thanks

Windows XP Wireless Help
Windows XP Wireless Help?
I got a laptop from a friend of mine from Spain. It is a European Asus S5000, with 40GB HDD and 512 MB. I got the laptop, and the OS was in Spanish, so I got my old copy of Windows XP Pro SP3 out of the closet and reinstalled Windows. However, where the old, original OS would run a wireless network connection, the new connection doesn't even have an option to set up a wireless network. It only tells me "Broadband or Dial-Up". I want to know if this is a problem I can solve by roaming through the XP catacombs. Besides connecting the laptop to my modem directly through Ethernet, is there a way to get the wifi connection to work again on this OS? Also, I am not technologically illiterate, I just am mainly a Mac user. :P

Suitcase/backpack for Europe travel, with laptop
Suitcase/backpack for Europe travel, with laptop?
I know there are a million threads regarding taking a suitcase or backpack, but my question has a bit of a twist. I will be spending 5 weeks in Europe, 3 in London doing a summer course for which it's crucial that I have my laptop with me. From there I want to travel around Europe for bit (2 weeks approx). I haven't decided where yet, but in the realm of possibilities is Turkey, Greece, Italy, Spain, and France. Obviously, I'd only be picking 1 of these countries to go to. I plan on packing very light as the first 3 weeks I'll be close to laundry facilities. Right now I am leaning to a suitcase and a day pack as I will have my laptop as I'm just not sure that I feel comfortable with my laptop stuffed into a backpack. However, my brain keeps telling me, use a backpack, it'll be so much easier! Has anybody ever done a backpack and brought a laptop? Are their any backpacks that you would recommend? Or should I stick with a smaller suitcase?

Is the new MacBook Pro 17" worth buying
Is the new MacBook Pro 17" worth buying?
I'm a graphic designer (mostly web designer) and will be moving to Spain next year to work. I decided to buy a laptop because I need to work at home, as well as keep in touch with friends, play games in spare time and because I honestly can't live without a computer. Though I've never used a Mac before (not even at job), I was thinking of buying the recently released MacBook Pro 17" when I arrive there, but then I've read about some flaws it has (annoying noises in speaker and overheting were the most common) and that dissapoints me a little bit. I like its design, but the "flashy graphics" and so is not enough reason for me to buy it. Yet, I do like that they are Intel based (THAT is, for example, a very good reason for me to buy it) Is a MacBook Pro 17" worth buying for me as a designer? What else do I need to connect it in a WiFi area? Or should I buy a PC laptop instead? If so, which model? If you own one, please tell me your experience as well. Thanks to everyone in advance!

the MacBook is a great option for two reasons. First it is really meant for the graphic professional (such as yourself), and it has WORLD WIDE support. Apple is the best company for international support options. Just do a little research to see if there are any apple certified service centers where you are going to be living in Spain. It comes with WiFi built in, and because it is an international standard it will work in Europe as well as it works in North America.

Then when you've accomplished something, you'll have the advantage of being able to view your work from both OS X and Windows from a single machine. Using laptop for internet overseas
Using laptop for internet overseas?
I have a laptop that has NOT been set up for wireless internet yet. Can I take it overseas (I live in California, will be traveling to France and Spain) and have access to internet? Is there anything I will need to do to set it up before I leave? Will I be able to access the internet in Europe if I've never accessed the internet here? Guide me! I am very technology-challenged! If the hotels provide wireless access, what will I need to do to access it through my laptop? Do I need to take anything aside from the laptop itself?

You shouldn't have any problems connecting wirelessly. The wireless-g/b/draft-n standards are pretty much global. Be aware, you will have to get an adapter to plug in your laptop. They use a different A/C current there. See my source for an example.

Well yea before you leave you can go to some place like BestBuy or a local Computer store and see if they can put a wireless cable in your computer. But it might cost a lil bit of money but its probly worth it. And by the way. Before you buy the lil wireless cable thing I would like call the place where you will be staying and than see if they got wireless internet just to make sure that you don't waste your money. My sister is studying abroad in Spain at a town where there is little wireless internet available unless you go to an internet cafe. I heard someone mention a "stick" that you can rent that gives you wireless internet when you plug it into your laptop. Is anyone familiar with a product like this? Where do you buy/rent one? How much does it cost? What is it called? Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

hi i live in spain and have just brought a dell laptop which is all in spanish so i have installed firefox in english so i can get my way around web.trouble is when im searching for certain things i get a full page in spanish thats obviously telling me i cant view that site.i have turned off the safe search option in the tools settings of firefox but then the same spanish page comes up telling me i cant view the site im after.i have also been into the parental controls settings in the control panel of my new laptop and turn the safe search off in there but still no luck.any advice would be great its getting annoying now thanks very much.

Life isnt going your way, but your best friend's life is perfect? How do you cope with this, and become happy? Ive been having ALOT of family issues(mom cant walk well)specificly health issues. My dad is the only one who makes money.. im the youngest in my family (16). My sister(20) just went back to college) and im the only healthy one in the family.and the only one that doesnt have a type diabetes.my family and i have been so unfortunete for the last almost 9 years. financialy and stuff like that. My best friend usualy gets what he wants. He got a 600 doller bed, thats better then some adults. He randomly gets a 200 dollar laptop. He gets to go to spain, or italy, or any other amazing country. While, ive never ever been out of the country. He JUST. got a credit card, because his parents are tired of giving him cash every weekend. he can only use it, with permision. but still. ITS A CREDIT CARD!. He is about to get his liscences in 4 weeks. Even though im 7 months older then him. were both 16. Reason why i dont have one by now. is cause of my parents, wont let me drive. cause of grades. The only issue, hes had in the family, is his mom with cancer. Which is big. I know this will sound mean, but cancer is very common and treatable, but what my mom has is just as bad as cancer. its SPS. Having cancer, means u can still have a job and live a normal life. Having SPS. U dont live a normal life. And u treatments Alot more often.(its an auto immune disease, and its rare as hell) its not as bad as ms. They have tons of money to burn. and they buy everything online. they got everything, I want my family to have. cash, nice cars, a nice house, they dont have to worry about money. and there happy most of the time. My question is. How do I keep myself from getting to upset about this? Im not mad or anything right now. Im totally happy right now :) but I get ticked off, everytime I herd him about his driving. Ive only driven for 2 hours. since august. while, hes all done with test. and about to get liscense. And im always jealous, seeing a 50 inch tv, with fancy verizon fios( i have basic cable)no hd tv. I know this might sound riddiculus. but where I live. (Arlington Virginia) its really hard to be thankfull for what you have. because there are so many kids, my age, that have ALOT of nice things. i mean look up arlington. Were close to the top of the list, on being rich. I want to be happy with what I have. the only thing, i got, that he doesnt have. is a gf. What are some ways, for me to cope with my jealously? What can I do. to make myself happier, and more thankful for what I have? I do help out with the homeless already.

I know it sucks being less fortunate than those around you. I did not get my license until I was 20 years old, and even though my parents had money to take care of the bills, it was not as though they had money to burn on laptops and fancy trips. Not everybody has that. You know what makes me realize and appreciate what I have now that I am an adult? I do not drive a BMW, but I have a car. I do not make six figures a year, but, I have a job (which in this economy is better than a lot of people.) I have a medical problem, but, I have access to the medical care that I need. There are so many people that do not have money to even take care of their bills or their rent, who do not have medical coverage to see the doctor, there are people in this world who lose their family and grow up with absolutely nothing. I was fortunate enough to have parents, to have a place to sleep and live, no drug/sexual/emotional/physical abuse in my home, etc. Who knows, maybe when he gets older, he will not appreciate the things he has in his life (as many who just has things handed to them don't) whereas you can appreciate the value of money, and respect the things you have that you worked hard for. It is okay to be jealous, as it is a human emotion. Just remember the little things in life that really are not that bad :)

Jealously is always going to be there..Stop comparing yourself to anyone if you always do this you woill never stop and your entire life you will feel this way. Find ways to make it better. Help your mom with what she needs your 16 find a job to start makign your own money you can buy what u want. While your dad is getting money for your family and saving what could be going to you then you guys can gain money faster. Or you can add your money and you guys will gain money faster. Calm down on what you ask for, use coupns or cut back on what you do buy. Driving-- Pull your grades up it will be hard work but it will pay off. you will be able to drive and it wil be one less thing to worry about. Plus our family will be proud which leaves you happy and unstressed. Your girlfriend you guys need to see eachother more because if thats what makes you happy you should spend more time. Dont do things that cost money go places to spend time not money. Tell your friend that you understand how happy he is but ask him if he canhelp you do your school work so you can be able to get your license too. Life is unfair it just depends on how you take it. I want to call u a ungrateful little brat. I had to read ur story twice to try and c where u coming from. At 16 i no u don't understand this. I'm about to come at u hard, hate to do but it may help u understand some things. First all families have some kind of issue going on. U don't no everything that takes place behind a closed door. Get it out ur head that material things means happiness. The love ur family, self respect and respect for others is more important. I myself grew up poor with both parents in the home. The best time of my life. I"m now married with kids. I am always talking about my childhood with my kids and they ask, Why do u always talk about ur childhood, and i tell them, besides having u that was the best time of my life. I always had a roof over my head, a place to sleep and food in my stomach. My parents, myself and my sister played board games, listened to music while singing and dancing. Me and my sister would put on show for our parents. We walked to the neighborhood park and bring snacks. That is the love I remember and will cherish forever. Never compare yourself to someone else. The way I do it is i think. I had a place to sleep which many people don't. I had food to eat which many people don't have. I had a parent that was loving and caring. There are also things i wish i could change in my life. for example i wish i could have grown up with both a mother and a father, but I was not so lucky. But then i think there are people with neither a mother or a father and i count myself lucky.

Well I can't say I grew up quiet as unfortunate as you but I never got the coolest stuff when I was your age and I too had what I would call spoiled friends that just seemed to get everything they wanted. This is what I think 1. Step back and look at where your at. There is always someone less fortunate, think about it. There are some kids that have divorced parents or don't even know there parents. Step even further back. There are some places in the world where people die of starvation, diseases, and god knows what else. Your fortunate to be born here. I know its something you may have herd before but really its true, when it comes down to it, you could have easily been put anywhere. 2. Look at what you really have. your friends and family. Everything else is just "things". I am sure your parents love you and you love them. If you disagree now it is likely you will realize it down the road. I hated my parents when I was your age. They wouldn't let me do anything it seemed. But everything they did I realize now was there method of teaching me discipline which sounds like crap now but your nearing an age where everything changes. Have fun with what you have right now. Enjoy going to school, hanging out with friends, spending time with your gf, helping the homeless, doing what you do because your going to miss some of those things in the coming years. 3. Your almost old enough to drive and get a job. It may take a while to get your parents to let you drive but it will happen. Trust me it will. Just try harder in school and keep nagging a little. I mean theres nothing else you can do. 4. Your learning something by not having all those nice things. Your going to have to go out and get those things you want, your not going to have things handed to you, and that is the real world for mostly everyone. There is no better satisfaction of being able to say I have this because I earned it. Same thing with the car. Its all part of a lesson. You want something, earn it. Which gives you an advantage in the long run. You will see. Don't be jealous or hate your friend, different lives, different strokes

Need a good budget laptop
Need a good budget laptop.?
I need a laptop, as I will be doing some international flying to Spain this summer, and my phone will surely die before the ~12 hours are up. Because of the time constraints, and me not having a job(I'm 16), I need a good laptop(specs below) for NO MORE than $500 USD. Here's the minimum specs I would like: 2.0GHz CPU 2GB DDR3 RAM 250GB HDD ~15.6"(Size is not important, as long as it's not an 11", or a netbook-14" minimum) DVD Drive Windows 7(32 or 64-bit, I don't really care which one) Built-in LAN and WLAN 4-hour battery life I will be doing some mild gaming(Garry's Mod, Half-Life, Halo CE, etc.) But no serious "ZOMG I'M GOING TO HACK THE PENTAGON WHILE PLAYING WoW!!!!!@@!@!#!@#!@#LOLZ", so an 11" netbook just won't do... I was going to get this: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16834214188 But when I picked it out, they had it $150 off, making a $580 laptop just $430! Now that sale ended, and it's $530, which that, plus a carrying bag, accessories, shipping, etc. brings the price to $598.38-About $100 out of my reach. I think I settled on this refurbished laptop. i don't know if you are going to find something to run Halo on, you sort of need a graphics card for that. i just got a Toshiba with somewhat better specs than you want for just over $600. Best Buy was running an 18 months no interest deal, so it is easy to manage.

I would go for a Gateway. They make excellent laptops and netbooks for a good price. I bought a laptop from them last year and its been working great and fast like it was new. I need a laptop, as I will be doing some international flying to Spain this summer, and my phone will surely die before the ~12 hours are up. Should i bring my laptop to europe
Should i bring my laptop to europe?????????????????
I am going to Europe for 2 and a half weeks with my soccer team traveling to France, Italy, and Spain and i am debating weither i should bring my laptop or not. I would like to email my family picutes while i am there but i dont know if i am going to have internet access. So my questions are.... is there going to be a powerport on the airplane that i can connnect my laptop to, is there going to be some sort of internet connection in the hotels in europe, and where should i keep it when i am not in my hotel room. thanks. only answer if you are sure. thanks everyone.

If i were in your shoes I would bring my laptop. I'm pretty sure there will be some internet spots in international airports. Not sure about the domestic ones. But either way, I would still bring it just in case. I would keep it tucked away with my clothes when I'm away. Have fun and be safe!

Airports, hotels, cafes, restos always have free internet access on WiFi. I am bringing my laptop anywhere I go and I can go online always. Busines and first class may or may not have powerport. Better bring two fully charge batteries. Hotels have safe boxes if you are worried of losing it

i-pod and pod-casts
i-pod and pod-casts?
i would like to buy my friend an ipod, so she can hear podcasts and some music. the problem is she does not own a laptop or a computer. is this still possible. or will i have to bu a laptop for her aswell? she lives in spain if that means anything

would my laptop break
would my laptop break?
am going to spain sunday and would it be better just leaving it in my house or would be alright to bring it somone told me there is a different voltage that could destroy my laptop

I don't think it would break, just get a universal plug, those have regulators that make the power standard to whatever country's end you plug it into.

You would have to get a power adapter that would work in Spain otherwise yes when you try to plug in the US adapter it will break.

Take your laptop with you, however you will need a voltage converter that will let you use your standard 110V plug in a European 220V outlet.

It will be okay. I've used my laptop in Europe, Asia and the Americas and it's worked fine. On your power cable, there's an AC Adapter. If you look at the writing on it, you will find and input and and output description. The output will say something like '12.5V - 3.34A'. The input will say '100-240V 1.5A 50/60 Hz'. That means you can plug into any socket within those parameters. Spain is 240v.

Apple laptop in Europe

I have the new black apple laptop and have a trip to both France and Spain in July. It says on the charger box thing: AC 100-240 v 50-60Hz 1.5A output 16.5v. Now my question is....can I simply plug this into a socket without shorting the cord and/or my laptop?

France and Spain have the same outlets. you need nothing else than a plug converter US-European. you can get it in every electronics store. the voltage in Europe is 230V/50Hz so you can use your charger without a problem.

you first need to get the outlet adapters for france and spain. (the shape) You dont need a converter unless the voltage is hight than the 240 limit. Your MacBook will be safe. I used it in China where it is 220 volts!!! Only warning is that the adapter will get hot, but dont worry about it frying up.

Your laptop will operate PERFECTLY on the European voltage and frequency (220~240 VAC @50Hz). You should go to a travel store and get a plug adapter only, you won't need a bulky transformer. Your wireless Internet should also work if you're in proximity to a wireless hub.
