My wi-fi laptop is good, it just doesn't work in France. Do they use a different radio frequency there?
My HP laptop is wi-fi enabled. This is great in England and in Spain. I am unable to use this wi-fi in France. Perhaps the French use a different frequency and maybe I have to buy a new wi-fi card to use while I am there. Perhaps I should buy an 811.n card.Comments would be appreciated.Arthur

Answer 1 :
considering the french have a different way of doing almost everything else, I suppose its possible they have a different frequency for wifi. However its more likely that you are simplyin an area that does not have any useable signals. The format of wifi is universal and the frequency range would be the same whether its in the Americas or not....Siemens did just add a new area to central france but as far as I know, its not everywhere (pretty much like the rest of the world).
Answer 2 :
There may not be any hot spots for internet access in France
Answer 3 :
WiFi should work in France. Please note that 802.11n is just another type of Wifi so it shouldn't make any differance.
Answer 4 :
France uses different steps (or distance between frequencies) in their wifi. To use theirs (if your wireless card supports it) Go to device manager (right click on "My Computer", then click on "Properties", then "Hardware" tab, then "Device Manager" button). Then find your wifi card, right click, hit "Properties", click "advanced" tab, and then there would be an option for what country. Just look at everything in the list and see which one pulls up a Value of : FCC or USA. Once you see that, click it and change it to France. This is for Windows XP, if you have another Windows OS, the steps are simliar

You need some good playlists on your i-pod to start off with then if your not sriving you need to get a good sudoku book, not olly does it train your brian it keeps a compeative and determination streak to complete it kicks in.
Answer 2 :
ipod book (if u dnt get sick) scoobies?(they are these little thread thingst that u like make sort of frienship breacelet things out of) phoneeee magazinee sleep! puzzles pencils, paper to draw and write stuff withetc. eatttt :) play games with teh people ur in the car with. eye spy etc. umm if i think of anything else i'll edit and put it in.. but soz thats all i got!
Answer 3 :
You can get some books on CD, and listen to those with your family. It could actually be a lot of fun. You can play travel games, like finding something that starts with each letter of the alphabet. Or make up bingo sheets beforehand, with things you think you might see out the window. Whoever gets bingo (or blackout) first, wins. Sleeping is a good option. Singing in the car is a favorite of mine, but I realize not everyone enjoys that. Bring a cookie sheet or large tray with an edge, and you can use that as a little desk. If you line it with felt or fleece, you can also use it as a card table for solitaire. You can write on it, or draw pictures of things you see on the way (although sometimes the car is too bumpy for that). Get postcards at each stop, and make a travel diary with that. If you don't get carsick, you can also try reading, word puzzles (wordsearch or crossword, or sudoku, maybe, even though that's numbers). My daughter also suggests that you eat something. (-: It seems like forever, but the time will pass.
Answer 4 :
Are you driving the car? A good playlist can be fun, or you can try an audio book. Audio books are good inventions of humanity

Can you plug a laptop in on an airplane to be charged
Can you plug a laptop in on an airplane to be charged?
On "http://www.seatguru.com/airlines/United… website it says that the power type is an "AC Power", I'm not really sure what that is. But does that mean if I purchase an AC Adapter for my computer I will be able to charge it on the airline? I am flying from America to Spain. Thank You

Answer 1 :
Yes, that is what it means. The plugs on Boeing aircraft and on Airbus aircraft made for american carriers accept standard two prong USA and European plugs. Double check the location of your seat to make sure there are plugs where you are sitting. For example, Delta A330 aircraft only have plugs in the first 20 rows of coach. Yo should also be aware that there are limitations on the power output. I have a 90 watt power pack for my Dell computer and I cannot charge it on many planes because the power output is rated for 50 watts or less. Have a great flight
Answer 2 :
AC power is the standard outlet there is everywhere, such as in your home, or at work. Your standard laptop charger can be charged in one of those outlets. There is no need to purchase anything else. Have a great trip
