Wireless Internet in Spain

Wireless Internet in Spain?
I am going to Spain for about a month or maybe a little longer, and I was wondering if anyone knew of a temporary air-card service I could use with my laptop while I'm there. I'm not staying in a hotel. I'm going for a study abroad program and I will be staying with a family. I am specifically looking for a *temporary air-card* for my laptop. IE Cellular Broadband Card.

Answer 1 :
You can probably get something in the hotel. Just ask ¿Hay algún tipo de tarjeta de conexión inalámbrica a Internet que me pasa por durante mi estancia?
Answer 2 :
Check with your cellphone provider. I know that verizon sells one. I think it's an additional service per month. You MUST check to make sure it will work there. Cell service won't if you're from the US, unless you make sure it does. Most phones need to be "unlocked" for use in Europe. If you're from another country, I don't know what the specs are, which is why your cell phone/internet providers are the best people to speak to

What do I need to power my American devices in Europe

What do I need to power my American devices in Europe?
I will be traveling to Spain and possibly other European countries, and I want to be able to plug in my iPhone, my HP laptop, my hair dryer and straightener, and possibly other common electrical and electronic devices. I know I will need a plug converter for the things that don't need their voltage converted, but which of my things WILL need a voltage converter? And can anyone suggest a good one? Thanks!

Answer 1 :
look on the back of the item or find the instructions to see what voltage they accept. Laptops are now mostly dual voltage but do check; anything you plug in to European voltages that doesn't accept 220V WILL blow up. don't forget your travel insurance with all this stuff.
Answer 2 :
Check out Frys Electronics or Radio Shack they have converters 220V to 120V get one with around 50W available power. Most of the electronics Laptops are working from 100V to 250V so no transformer is need it, however you will need plug converter to adjust to EU outlets, and they are available at Fry or Radio Shack Target and many other places. Cost from $1 to $15.
Answer 3 :
Look at the brick on the items you're bringing (if the big chunky thing that often either plugs directly into the wall or has cords coming out of it that you plug into the wall). If the brick says 110V-240V or something along those lines, you don't need a power converter. Using one will actually fry your electronics, so check before you plug anything in. Most items nowadays come equipped to handle110V-240V, so converters are slowly becoming useless. Be careful with your hair straightener though, certain brands (like CHI) won't work abroad. You will however need plug adaptors, so be sure to buy those

Answer 1 :
call microsoft's customer service and they will walk you through how to activate it
Answer 2 :
This offen come up after downloads from microsoft, easly removed download WGA Notification tool http://www.majorgeeks.com/RemoveWGA_d5170.html used it many a time
Answer 3 :
If you bought your laptop for dirt cheap from a shady shop it is probably a pirated (illegal) version of Windows. If that is the case, if you call Microsoft they will just tell you to buy Windows. However, if you bought your laptop for a reputable dealer, just give microsoft's customer service a call. Here: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/295539 Never buy technology from non-reputable dealers. Piracy steals money from developers and it's illegal.
Answer 4 :
Hi meanmachine, If you purchased Windows 7 from a reputable retailer or Microsoft Partner, then you do have genuine Windows. If this is the case it sounds like you did not activate Windows 7. In order to activate now, you will need to call Microsoft - http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/18715-activate-windows-7-phone.html If you are unsure if your copy of Windows 7 is genuine, visit http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/genuine to learn more. Should I replace my chunky laptop with an Ipad for studying abroad

Should I replace my chunky laptop with an Ipad for studying abroad?
Hello- I am going to Spain in the fall to study and I really don't want to take my huge HP laptop over there. Rather, I would like to get an Ipad instead so I can travel easily with it. I love my iPhone and iTouch and I am very used to these products. Would this be a smart idea?

Answer 1 :
I think that would be a great idea. It would be more portable and more on the go.
Answer 2 :
It would be a great idea for reaasons you mentioned yourself. Travelling with a light simple cool gadget is much better than carrying your laptop. In case you would have to write a project or smth you can always use the pc's from the university. I did the same when i came to study in germany. Have fun in spain it's an amazing country.
Answer 3 :
It's a good idea, but why not carry both? You could leave your laptop at home in Spain. I'm suggesting that because you might need access to your computer (assuming you have important work on it). The iPad can only take you so far as a computer, it has some shortfalls. If you can afford it, why not think of buying a netbook/MacBook Air rather than an iPad? They're portable and allow you have the full potential of a computer rather than a tablet
