Studying abroad in Madrid, Spain

Studying abroad in Madrid, Spain?
I am studying abroad in Madrid, Spain during the month of July. I am looking for someone who is familiar living both in the the USA and Spain, so they can tell me things I should know. My Spanish is fine, that is not what I am worried about. My questions really are about things like electricity. What types of adapters should I buy, and should they convert too? From personal experience what type of converters should I have. It will be used to for things like a laptop, hair straightener, hair dryer, phone charger, camera battery charger, etc. also, what about internet? how available is internet? are there many places that have computers that I could use? for free? or cheap? and would it be wiser to switch my AT&T cell to an international plan? or just get a calling card when I get there and use a pay phone? What about weather in July? Any special packing tips? What type of clothing is acceptable? I don't want to look goofy so I would like to be prepared and go shopping before I go. I would appreciate answers to these questions so so much!!

I've never been to Spain (I'm gonna fix that later this year) but I've been researching Spain. I wish I could tell you more but someone who has been is your best bet. I do know that internet cafés (public places where you pay per hour to use the internet) are common in most Spanish cities. Clothing? I understand that women over there are really meticulous about appearance (kinda like women in Mexico) and like to look nice and elegant, well-dressed, shorts and white sneakers... ¡ni lo sueñes!!

i will answer your query on international calls...dont call from a cell phone provider dear...u will get ripped off.....try phone cards or call cards..u can buy them online.... I have been using a service called pingo http://www.tinyurl.com/pingo-com for for international calls... It has really served me well in the long run...Great voice quality and cheap international calls is the reason I am sticking to it after trying a number of different calling card
