Study Abroad or... buy College stuff?
Ok so i have two options. I can study at Madrid, Spain for Summer Semester. The total cost is $3000. But only for a month. Or i can use that money to buy things i need like, a laptop, and save the rest as down payment for a car. What would you guys do? @Sara: It covers everything. Plane, room, 3meals a day, and tuition. And of course our personal expenses are another budget depending on how much money we bring.

Study abroad...you have the rest of your life to buy a car, but your only in college once. Take advantage of this oppertunity while you can!!
Answer 2 :
As much as I would love to go to Spain for a summer semester, buying stuff for college is more practical and will last longer than just a month :)
Answer 3 :
What does the 3,000$ cover? If it's just the tuition, you're getting the shaft. Because the flight will be about 1,000$ and a room I'm guessing will be about 500$ a month. Your adviser should have testimonials for you or they should be able to provide the email addresses of people who've done the same program who can answer your questions to see if it's really worth it. If you're looking to learn Spanish, maybe instead go to Central or South America. It will be a lot cheaper and just as cool for things to do and places to travel. I studied abroad in Santiago, Chile for a full semester and my school's scholarships covered the tuition (which was cheaper than the local school's), so I had money leftover to travel and all that other good stuff.

Study abroad; the stuff will still be there when you get back, but once you graduate and get a job, the ability to take off and go to Spain for a month will be very rare. Plus, you can use study abroad on a resume and/or grad school application. You can't use "bought a laptop" as a resume booster.
Answer 5 :
Madrid. It will be a great experience which you will never forget. Laptops can be quite cheap especially if you can get one used, and you don't need a car, you can walk, bike, take public transport, or carpool instead
