Should I replace my chunky laptop with an Ipad for studying abroad

Should I replace my chunky laptop with an Ipad for studying abroad?
Hello- I am going to Spain in the fall to study and I really don't want to take my huge HP laptop over there. Rather, I would like to get an Ipad instead so I can travel easily with it. I love my iPhone and iTouch and I am very used to these products. Would this be a smart idea?

I think that would be a great idea. It would be more portable and more on the go.

It would be a great idea for reaasons you mentioned yourself. Travelling with a light simple cool gadget is much better than carrying your laptop. In case you would have to write a project or smth you can always use the pc's from the university. I did the same when i came to study in germany. Have fun in spain it's an amazing country.

It's a good idea, but why not carry both? You could leave your laptop at home in Spain. I'm suggesting that because you might need access to your computer (assuming you have important work on it). The iPad can only take you so far as a computer, it has some shortfalls. If you can afford it, why not think of buying a netbook/MacBook Air rather than an iPad? They're portable and allow you have the full potential of a computer rather than a tablet
