Traveling for the first time , 15?
This summer (i'll be 15 in two months ) im going to see my mom for the first time in a few years , and im traveling alone. I live in iceland , and flying to florida , or new york ( we havent discussed this more ) then she'll pick me up. and i'll be flying with my laptop , and as i said , alone. Any tips ? i would like to have my laptop with me the whole flight as in hand luggage. I've traveled with my grandma with my laptop once before (Iceland-Spain) It's just sooo frustrating , i cant seem to get myself to put my laptop in the luggage that goes into the plane ( like i've seen on several sites about traveling alone ) crap , crap , crap..... and im VERY shy , so which seat should i ask for in the airplane ? as in the closest to the window , middle , or the one of the side? I believe im very capable of getting to my gate , when traveling with my grandma i was the one that had to find our gate ( She only talks icelandic , whilst i talk also english )

Welcome to the USA. Almost everyone takes a laptop on board in their carry-on luggage, as no one trusts it will arrive safely in the checked baggage. You can only use it when they say it is ok, though, and planes with a wireless internet signal are rare (and the signal is expensive to rent). I ALWAYS carry my laptop on board in my brief case. I would say get a window seat, as it might be fin to look out at times. In terms of being shy, you can talk to others as much or as little as you want. If you don't feel like talking, and your seat mate addresses you, just give extremely short answers which sends the signal you don't want to talk. If they persist, act like you are going to sleep or wear ear buds (even if you are not listening to music). If you are changing planes in a connecting city, everything is marked very well. Just don't book a connection of less than about an hour to give yourself plenty of time (unless it is a very small airport)
